I love the book's stream-of-consciousness style writing because it allows us to experience Rafe’s thoughts. Now Rafe is exploring his identity in ways he hadn't anticipated. But it's getting harder to stay in the closet as Rafe develops feelings for his best friend Ben, whose openly straight. He transferred to an all-boys private school in Massachusetts, far from his old life in Boulder, Colorado, and concealed his sexuality. He joins a group of athletically inclined students and likes being "one of the boys" in the locker room. Rafe's unease leads him on a search for his own identity. He likes to write, he plays soccer, and is a skier. Nobody has a problem that Rafe is gay, but the fact that it is all he is known for, makes him uncomfortable. Rafe is an average kid, trying to shed the label he’s grown up with. Diverse Easy Reader | Illustrated Chapter.
